At Authentic Internal Medicine in Westmont, Dr. Michael Alebich practices in a concierge-style model that prioritizes time, access, and continuity of care. By limiting patient volume and removing many of the administrative pressures common in traditional systems, the practice allows for longer visits, direct communication, and a more proactive approach to care. “It brings primary care back to what it was meant to be,” he says. “A relationship between the doctor and the patient, not one dictated by a schedule or outside pressures.”

That structure supports a level of attentiveness shaped by Dr. Alebich’s broad clinical experience. Having worked in both outpatient clinics and inpatient hospital settings, he has seen the full spectrum of health and disease. “In the outpatient setting, patients are generally stable. In the hospital, you are treating acute and often complex illnesses,” he explains. “That contrast helps me recognize small issues early, before they become something more serious.”

His training at Cook County Hospital further reinforced that perspective. There, exposure to a wide range of conditions from across the globe required a thorough and disciplined approach to diagnosis. “You learn to think through all possibilities,” he says. “That carries over to my current practice, where patients can feel confident that nothing is being overlooked.”

Dr. Alebich’s philosophy is straightforward. “I will do for my patients what I would do for my own family.” He views medicine as both an art and a science, combining deep clinical knowledge with clear communication. “Patients should understand their health and their options,” he says. “When they do, they are in the best position to make informed decisions.”

Preventive care remains a central focus, though his advice is intentionally simple. “Stay hydrated. Eat fresh foods. Get good sleep. Limit screen time. Go outside and enjoy yourself.” These habits, he notes, are often overlooked but essential to long-term health and often the hardest to maintain consistently.

An Oak Brook native, Dr. Alebich now cares for patients in the community he has long called home. “It fulfills the dream I had when I first pursued medicine,” he says. “It is a Norman Rockwell painting come-to-life. Serving this community as an ‘old-school’ doctor is incredibly meaningful.”
